The most successful project right now is Cara. Claus Steinort, the flute player of Steampacket is also part of Cara, plus Gudrun Walther on fiddle and vocals, Sandra Steinort on flute, piano and vocals and Jürgen Treyz on guitars. It's roughly 50% songs and 50% tunes. I enjoy playing to the mix of slower and fast pieces a lot. We have been touring all over Germany and Europe, incl. Ireland the UK. We are also playing in the US where we played at huge festivals like Milwaukkee, ICONS in Boston, Chicago Celtic Fest or Kansas City Irish Fest.
In December 1999 Stefan Schneider (fiddle), Claus Steinort (flute), Andreas Lassak (guitar) and myself founded the band "Steampacket" We have since added Tina Fastje (fiddle) and replaced Andreas with Tobi Kurig. Although we play mainly irish music, the occasional breton, scottish and even finnish piece makes it into the repertoire: "Traditional Irish Music - And Beyond." The CD is finished and is avaliable in the Shop, a review can be found here at Irishmusicreview.com.
DeReelium formed in 1996 and we recorded our first CD in 1999. DeReelium is based in Hannover and we host the regular session every Sunday at the Irish Harp, plus Sessions at the Kuriosum in Hannover and the Irish Pub at Brüderstraße. Due to all the other projects there are not too many gigs with DeReelium right now, but this might change again....
A while ago I recorded on a project of Tin Whistle and guitar player Olaf Sickman (yes, I know, but that's his name ! :-)). The result was Olafs CD "Sommertiefe". There are soundsamples for you in the Media section, the CD is availabe in the Shop. I was a great pleasure to record this one with Olaf.

In 2006 I have recorded with three great friends: Colman Connolly; low whistle, uilleann pipes, flute and whistles, Tobi Kurig; bouzouki. Franziska Urton; fiddle. Their album "Blue" is a great recording and it is an honour to be playing on the album. Again, the CD is availabe in the Shop.
Other projects and musical friends
From the Frankfurt area An Tor are great craic. Hopefully we will have them play at one of the Bodhrán Weekends.
Normally an all-female band, the More Maids, are always good fun. Barbara Coerdt, who plays with DeReelium is also a More Maid. I played with them on tour and in the studio and we always had a great time. Hello Maids!
Stefan Lups, also known as "The North Sea Chinaman" is a musician that I met at various session gatherings. I alway liked his singing and playing and so I said "Yes of course!" when he asked me to play on his album.
I also met my friends Jens Kommnick and Siobhan Kennedy at various gatherings and since Jens has gigs allover the place he sometimes gives me a shout and we do a gig together.
Last but not least there are two people from Ireland that shouldn't be left out here: Stephen Campbell and Ian Smith, from Cionn Caslach (Kincasslagh) in Northwest Donegal. While I was over there we played a lot together and they were very encouraging (not the typical reaction to a bodhrán player, mind you). My first gigs in Ireland were in the Trad Tráthóna series in the Lakeside Centre (Ionad Cois Locha) in Dunlewey and in the Workhouse in Dunfanaghy). Both were with Ian and Stephen, and when they came to Germany to play the Celtic Halloween Festival 2001 I had to chance to gig with them again. They toured Germany again in 2004 with the Irish Folk Festival and brought out a brilliant CD, a must have!
