Home / The Bodhrán / My TipperFirst of all, my snakewood tipper. Thin and very precise, but also heavy enough for me. I searched for a long time to get something heavier than the fiddle bow sticks that are used a lot in these days. This stick comes from the Orkney Islands, where it is produced by Eoin Leonard of Belgarth Bodhráns. You also find this stick in the Shop.

The next stick is the one I played before the snakewood. It has a conical shape which prevents the tipper from slipping through you finders which makes it the ideal beginners stick. Very nice for rolls! It comes in beech and a special edition in ebony. You also find those in the Shop.

The hairbrush! Johnny McDonagh is supposed to be the first one who came up with this idea. Many people are asking if this is really a normal hairbrush? Yes it is! Make yure you find one that has some wood sticking out at the end for extra non-brushy beats! Very nice with songs and a bassy drum...
Hot Rods come in different shape and styles, I play HotRods made by Ralf Siepmann from Hamburg. He makes a great selection of Hot Rods in different sizes. His whole collection is in my bag, the picture shows a Power Rod which I mostly play. All of Ralfs Hot Rods are also available in the Shop.
